Tryout for Boys Volleyball in Wichita

Heartland Juniors will have tryouts for 2 boys teams (14's and 18's) on December 14 at St. George Cathedral at 7515 E. 13th Street. For more information contact Roslyn Brittain at grbritt@swbell.net
Powerleague Qualifiers

Because of extreme high registration numbers, we are expanding the maximum numbers of teams that will be accepted in the 14, 15 and 16 Powerleague Qualifying tournaments to 25 teams. Some teams will be eliminated from the Powerleague after pool play in the qualifying tournament. No more than 25 teams will be accepted in these divisions! The last remaining openings will be rewarded to the first teams that get their registration in the office and are approved for competition.
Road Construction Alert

The HOA facility is near a major construction zone which may cause some detours for people coming and leaving HOA. This construction may last for another year. The latest change is for those exiting from I-70, you can't turn Right on Kansas Avenue - continue 1 block then turn Right and then turn Right again and left onto Kansas. Sorry for any inconvenience. VolleyTots Road Tour in Kansas City

The VolleyTots Road Tour will be in Kansas City on Monday, October 27. This clinic will demonstrate exercises and drills to be used to teach the athletic skills of hand-eye coordination, spatial relationships, foot speed, agility, strength, posture, reduce fear, improve endurance, and establish discipline along with some specific volleyball techniques. Included will be a package of starter drills along with a short video providing some additional information. The age ranges will be 3 ½ to 10 years old and will be strictly an introduction to volleyball for players, parents and coaches. The clinic will run from 5:30-8:30 pm for coaches and from 6:30-8 pm for the kids.
Registration is free to the 1st 30 "Tots" (age 3 ½ to 10). Fee for coaches is $5 for HOA members, $10 for Non-USAV members. Pre-registration is required. See attached flyer for more info.

US Wins Gold in Beach Volleyball - US Indoor Men's & Women's Teams reach the Gold Medal Finals!

Junior Training Series starting back up

The junior training series are starting back up for the grades 4 thru 10. Each session includes instruction on basic and advanced techniques of serving, passing/overhand, hitting, blocking, and team play. The series will be held at the HOA Facility on Thursdays. Inland Beach Tour Regional Championships

The last Inland Beach Tour is coming up on August 23 & 24. Traditional the last event is the HOA outdoor regional Championships. You can sign up for this event online. Go under "Outdoor" to "tournament" and select "Enter IBT event".

For teams coming from the West (Lawrence/Topeka) for the August 9 & 10 Inland Beach Tour: There is road construction going on at the Hwy 7 and Hwy 24 intersection. Take Hwy 7 North and turn right onto Riverview Avenue. Go past 126th street and turn left into the park right before the Sunflower Hills Golf Course. The playing site is on your right hand site, right before you reach the George Meyn Building.

To get to Wyandotte County Park for the August 9 & 10 and August 23 & 24 Inland Beach Tour: Coming from the East: Take I-70 to the 110th Street exit. Go North on 110th Street till State Ave (Hwy 40). Turn West on Hwy 40. The park is a few blocks on your left hand side. Follow the signs to the "George Meyn" building. Inside the Park, you will come to a stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign and follow the road for about 1/2 mile. You will see the "George Meyn" building on your left hand side. A little bit further there are 2 softball fields where we will be playing. Coming from the West: Take I-70 to Hwy 7. Go North on Hwy 7 to Hwy 40. Turn East on Hwy 40. Park is on the right hand side. Follow directions above.
